A newly-formed housing organisation in Gateshead is looking to recruit local people to help it develop affordable homes across the borough.

Keelman Homes, a charitable subsidiary established by The Gateshead Housing Company, wants help to oversee the building of almost 100 new homes.

It is looking to appoint two voluntary ordinary trustees to its Board and is hoping that local business people will get involved.

The first development by Keelman Homes is the development of 94 new homes in Kibblesworth over the next three years, once planning permission for the scheme is granted.

Keelman Homes Board meets bi-monthly and has already made several key decisions to progress the development at Kibblesworth.

Bill Fullen, Chief Executive of the housing company and an advisor to Keelman Homes, is hoping the role will appeal to people both inside and outside the housing industry.

He said: “The building of new homes is great news for Gateshead and anyone joining the Board will be part of exciting times ahead for the borough.”

Anyone wanting to find out more about the roles on Keelman Homes Board should contact Stuart Gibson on 0191 433 5308 or email stuartgibson@keelmanhomes.org

The closing date for applications is Friday, 5 March 2010.
