keelman_homes_west-park_demolition_nov_2016_007Housing association Keelman Homes Limited is building new quality affordable homes for rent in the
Dunston and Teams area of Gateshead, in partnership with Gateshead Council and the Homes and Communities Agency.

Gateshead Council has designed the houses, and will build them on behalf of Keelman Homes.

Initial works, to prepare for demolition of the former West Park sheltered scheme at Meadow Lane and a number of garages on a nearby site, began in October 2016.

Once demolition has been completed, construction on this exciting development will start in late 2016.

The West Park scheme will provide 17 new three-bedroomed homes for affordable rent. The properties will be managed by The Gateshead Housing Company on behalf of Keelman Homes Limited.

Councillor Liz Twist, Gateshead Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and member of Keelman Homes Board, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity to provide new homes and to reinvigorate this area.

“We’re proud to be able to develop these homes for local people – we know how important it is for communities to have quality affordable housing and this is a real chance for us to do just that.”

The new homes at Meadow Lane are expected to be available for rent by autumn 2017.

Keelman Homes Limited will advertise them on Tyne and Wear Homes, alongside other properties managed by The Gateshead Housing Company.

Visit www.tyneandwearhomes.org.uk for further information on how to register and bid for properties advertised via Tyne and Wear Homes.
