Kibblesworth residents can celebrate the completion of four years of housing developments this Saturday (28 September).

The Kibblesworth Festival between 11.30am and 3pm has been organised by The Gateshead Housing Company and partners to mark £14m of work, including 140 new homes, improved children’s play areas and spectacular artwork.

Almost 400 residents have been invited to the free family event, which will include a treasure hunt around the entire village, a fun fair, various stalls and refreshments.

Attendees can also have a look around a three-bed show home and make the most of the last of 13 properties available for shared ownership.

Neil Bouch, Director of Customers and Communities at the housing company, thinks this is a great opportunity for the estate to come together.

He said: “There has been some fantastic work during the last four years and it’s been a pleasure to see residents enjoying their new homes.

“The estate has been transformed and this event will allow residents to come together and celebrate this successful development.”

The event and £14m regeneration of the village, which is supported by the housing company’s subsidiary Keelman Homes, Gateshead Council, overall site constructor Keepmoat and the Homes and Communities Agency, has created 81 new homes to rent, 54 for sale and 13 for shared ownership to help first-time buyers to step on to the property ladder.
