Residents of Gateshead’s Kibblesworth estate have been given the chance to find out more about plans to regenerate their neighbourhood.

Three drop-in sessions will take place at the Millennium Centre, Kibblesworth, on Tuesday, 24 November, between:

  • 9.30am to 11am
  • 2pm to 3.30pm
  • 6pm to 7pm.

Local residents will have the opportunity to speak to employees of The Gateshead Housing Company and building firm Keepmoat, view plans for the new housing development, and find out more about timescales for the work.

A number of the estate’s properties are due to be demolished early next year, with new affordable homes for existing residents and additional homes for sale to be built in their place.

Bill Fullen, Chief Executive of The Gateshead Housing Company, said: “We have already made improvements to thousands of homes across Gateshead, with just one in eight now needing any works completed.

“As well as updating existing homes, we are also looking at a number of plans to build new homes in the borough.

“This first new build scheme at Kibblesworth will provide homes of all sizes for rent, and we are delighted to be working with local residents and Keepmoat on these exciting plans.”

Residents wanting to find out more details prior to the event should contact The Gateshead Housing Company’s Birtley office on 0191 433 6102 or email teresasmare@gatesheadhousing.co.uk
