Keelman Homes Limited Board Chair and Trustee Brian Kelly stepped down this January, after completing the maximum term of office of nine years.

Brian was Chair of the charity since Keelman Homes began. He was integral to the success of many new-build housing developments including Kibblesworth, Nugent Row, Dunn Court, The Lonnen, and West Park.

During his term in office Brian also supported two empty homes purchase and repair programmes, bringing over 80 empty properties back to a lettable standard in Gateshead. He forged strong relationships with key stakeholders and promoted a positive company reputation.

Before joining Keelman Homes, Brian was Head of Housing Services at Gateshead Council until his retirement in 2004. He has served on several Housing Association boards and for ten years served as Vice-chair of Governors for a local primary school.

Anne-Marie Pearce, Keelman Homes’ Development and Operations Manager, said: “I’d like to thank Brian for his outstanding work and commitment to our company and acknowledge the great work he has accomplished as Chair of the Keelman Homes Board.

“We wish him all the best in the future.”

Keelman Homes’ new Board Chair is Jason Wylie. Jason has worked in social housing since 1992 and was previously the Assistant Director for Commercial at Your Homes Newcastle.

Keelman Homes is currently working in partnership with Keepmoat Homes to deliver 27 new-build homes in Blaydon. The first homes will be available from summer 2020 – five will be offered for shared ownership, four for Rent to Buy, and 18 for affordable rent.
